Bike would not start after I stalled it.

This also happened to me a couple of months ago.  I stopped for lunch, came out started the bike and stalled it as I engaged the clutch. I hit the start button again and nothing but the starter engage for a split second. I turned the power off, but the screen did not retract to home position. Although everything else was working properly.

I released the cables from the battery and cleaned them up. Put everything back together and it started fine. The screen did not extend or retract. The button did not engage the screen either. As I was riding along a few mins later I noticed the check engine light was on. When I got home and turned off the ignition the screen retracted and thats how I left my bike.

It's a 2014 Trophy SE. I changed the battery after 4 years, so now it's been another 4 years. Anyone have any idea? Im thinking battery. I'll check the codes tomorrow about the check engine light.

I have had this bike since new in July 2014 and now has 90,000km. I have never had to do any unplanned maintenance except for the fork seals. I consider myself a lucky sod after reading some of the horror stories on the forums. It's been a great bike but Im in 70's now and thinking I need something a bit lighter.

Exactly, the DTC error codes will be of great help. That way we can know if it is an electrical problem.

If the Engine Management Light ( or "MIL" ) is ON then it is likely that one or more Fault Codes
( or "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" / "DTC's" ) will have been recorded in the ECU.

Read this topic to find out how to display DTC's on your Instrument Panel,
without needing any tools or equipment, ad where you will also find a downloadable document
listing the DTC's, their meanings, and other information :

Scroll down to the Message dated March 11, 2015, "Diagnostic Trouble Codes ( DTC's ) / Fault Codes"

Report back with any DTC's you have

DTC is P1698

[Coconut]

P1698 = "5 Volt sensor supply circuit malfunction"

This DTC is often logged when the Main Battery voltage drops unexpectedly,
sometimes when the Battery is disconnected.

Check your main Battery terminals are clean and tight,
and also check the main fuse near the battery for any signs of corrosion
on the blades of the fuse and within the fuseholder.

It would also be worth having the battery professionally tested.

The MIL shoud extinguish after 3 full "no fault" start ups,
and the DTC should be automaticsally erased after 40 full "no fault" start ups.

Thanks for your help once again oh yee guru. Like I said earlier I think it's the battery. Im going to change it anyway as Its been over 4 years since it was last replaced. I would hate to be stuck in the middle of nowhere on a multi day trip and my bike not start. There are bears here and I could be ones lunch :)
