Author Gear whine. Loud. (Read 3737 times)

I have an old Garmin 7200 GPS installed that I use to listen to Sirius XM radio using using Etymotic earphones that supress external noise and I can't hear any gear whine when using them.

However, a while back I gassed up close to my home and had removed the Etymotics for the short ride home and I was surprised at how much gear whine noise I could hear then.

So apparently the Trophy has more normal gear whine than most bikes. It's hard to determine exactly the source of the gear whine is coming from. I'm wondering if the noise is coming from the right angle drive at the output of the transmission. But I'm not really concerned about this.

How strange you mention the gear whine. I have just booked mine in with Staffs Triumph for the same problems. On returning from a trip to Wales I found that in slow moving traffic 20/30 mph the whine was obvious but on increasing my speed to 50/60mph the whine was noticeably worse with a vibration through the bars. I will let you know how I get on and what excuses I receive.

Mine has the most wining noise in 6th gear at 90km/h.Realy enoying so i drop a gear when i have to drive on 90km roads.
i do think it is lets say "normal" for the trophy's?!?!

I'm not feeling any vibration through the handlebars, just hearing the noise.

The Trophy, apart from the noise of the Tricilindrico that I particularly like...

There is a noise that can be confused with the gears of the gearbox and certainly has a shake in the handlebar grips and sometimes also in the left footrest. In that case, it is very possible that they have a problem with the alternator, one that there is a part inside that is oxidized due to lack of lubrication and the alternator does not work well.

I have found in the gallery the images that I uploaded at the time.

These are the alternator parts that I mentioned and that cause a lot of noise and at the same time a tremor in the handlebar grips and footrest, especially in the left footrest.

I know there is a kit for its replacement, but I didn't get to buy it, since I had a complete alternator and I replaced it.
