USA TPMS Frequency

So far, I have found 2 pictures of TPMS in posts in this Forum.  One pic is from a owner in the UK and the other (hank59) might be from Canada, unless there is another Calgary besides the one I know of in Alberta, Canada.

On both labels, it shows 434 MHz.

I'm trying to find out if it's possible to get an AUTEL MX universal sensor to work on a Triumph Trophy SE sold in the US.

My guess is the US Trophy TPMS also operates on 434 MHz but I need to confirm this.

The MX sensors can be progrmmed for either 315 MHz or 433 MHz operating, but the correct communication protocol has to be programmed also.

This would mean selecting ( making an "educated" guess )  as far as what make & model car the sensors should be programmed as.

So for atarters,  I need to know what frequency the US Triumph TPMS operating on.

Are there any US owners who can verify what the label says on the sticker on the OEM TPMS sensor ??

If I can figure this out it would be a lot cheaper to use an AUTEL MX universal sensor ( about $30 ) than buying an OEM Triumph sensor.

Looking at the Triumph Parts List on line,
one type of TPMS at 315 MHz is listed for Japan & Hong Kong,
with the other type at 434 MHz listed for the "Rest of the World".

I looked at the Hermy's parts list yesterday for the front wheel and it didn't give that info, Coconut.   But I just doubled checked and that info is included for the rear wheel !

Taking my friend to the oncologist tomorrow, but when things slow down a bit I'll be heading to the out-building to visit the Trophy and see if I can successfully interrogate/ping the installed sensors on my Trophy with the make / model of auto I'll take a guess at.

The guys on the Concours Forum said they have been able to do that on their Concour with the sensors installed.  The MAXI PAD says to place the sensor on top of the MAXI PAD but apparently that is not actually required.  BTW, the Concours uses 315 MHz sensors.

No thank you.  I bet it's a LDL PA-66 G33 sensor like on my Concours except it's a 434 Mhz sensor, not a 315 MHz sensor.

You'll have to wake the sensor by spinning it fast enough, as though fitted to a wheel, before you can attempt to read anything from it using the MaxiPad.

I spent ages doing the same thing a few years back trying to find a cheaper compatible sensor with no luck.

I've got details of the sensor chip somewhere. I also downloaded the FCCID documents that provide more information about how the LDL sensors work. The trickiest part is figuring out and then decoding the data coding system they use.

The AUTEL MAXI PAD will interrogate the installed sensors and then they will respond according to guys on the Concours Forum.  The wheel doesn't need to be spun.  The MAXI PAD will substitute for the Immobilizer/TPMS module.  THey have sucessfully replaced the LDL sensor on the Concours with an AUTEL MX sensor.  Take a look at BigRed's posts on the Zg / GTR Fanatics Forum.

If you can give me a link to that LDL info I will be interested in reading it and I will appreciate that.

I'll dig out the LDL info when back at my PC.

I found the LDL sensors could only be woken when spinning because the usual 125kHz wake-up method used on most sensors didn't work for me. Not a big problem because I fitted the sensor to an angled valve and spun it in a cordless drill. I have a virtual Tiger 800 on my bench, including the immobiliser and clocks, so I could see when the sensor data was live. I also have a USB RF receiver so can monitor sensors, doorbells, keyfobs etc that transmit at 432MHz and could see when the LDL sensor woke.

Interesting read of BigRed's findings. I've already got a TPMS MaxiPad but never bothered ordering any Autel sensors when I looked into this. At the time I was more interested in reading the LDL sensors while working on adding TPMS programming to TigerTool. I'll have an Autel MX sensor here tomorrow so will test it using my virtual Tiger 800 setup.
