Okay to sit on bike while adjusting preload?

I looked in the manual and Triumph says nothing about whether the rider or passenger can sit on the bike when preload is adjusted.  I wonder if this would be hard on the electric motor or if it wouldn't matter.  I would think if it was something to avoid Triumph would make sure to put a warning about it somewhere.   

I get the TES WARNING; CHECK MANUAL message if I try to adjust preload on start up.  Seems to be linked to cold weather.  I've read the threads on this but haven't found anything addressing the question of weight on the bike when preload is adjusted.

Ideally, you should do it without a load, since that way the motor will not be forced, but if the motor starts while you are sitting, nothing happens either. But of course, in my case I weigh little. For a person of great weight the engine will go more forced. That's why whenever possible, it's better that the engine does its job on its own.

I've always adjusted mine while I was sitting on it.  I've weighed north of 190 in the past without any gear on.  Thankfully I haven't weighed that much since shortly after I retired.

I had to have that elctro hydraulic unit replaced when my 2013 was just several months old. I was sitting on the bike, 186lbs when the system decided it needed to self adjust or calibrate. The system went into warning and stayed that way.No manner of voltage and ground checks, tapping on the motor, hooking a battery charger to the battery, pulling fuses, relays, and jacking up the bike to remove all weight would change its mind. Fortunately, replacement was covered under warranty.
I notice that if I start the bike while the system is "adjusting", the calibration never finishes. I turn off the key, turn the key back on and wait for calibration or adjustment to complete its cycle before starting. And i always keep my weight off the bike when changing the load settings. I have about 75K on the bike, and still think the bike is AMAZING.

Simple answer from me.  The preload will not complete when I am sat in the bike and throws an error.  I can only set it when not on the bike.
