5 bars on Temp Gauge
« on: October 06, 2013, 04:27:10 AM »
Today while in relatively light traffic my temp gauge went to five bars even though it was only 94f (roughly 35c). I've hit 5 bars when in traffic at 99-100.  I even hit 6 bars 1-2 time in 105f and traffic.  But I  never hit 5 bars with the temp this low (I know low is a relative term)  Coolant level is OK.  Has anyone else ever hit 5 bars at 94f?  Has anyone ever hit 6 bars?

Only been into 5 bars in heavy traffic at high temps  30 deg C and above.

Normally rock steady at 4 bars whatever I'm doing

I've had five bars here in the summer with temps over 35 (your 95), particularly in slower traffic. I thought it was normal.

I have hit 5 bars on mine briefly in traffic but the temp certainly wasn't near 95, I would think your ok if the coolant level is correct, I think they mention something about how bars the screen should show in the manual, me thinks it mentions 4-5 bars

My fan comes on in heavy traffic only. That is the 5 bars point.

5 bars stopped in traffic, from mid 80s up seems to be the new norm. It drops to 4 bars as soon as I start moving. I say new norm because oddly, when the bike had lower miles, in hotter traffic, it was comfortably 4 bars. One would think it would be hotter when it was new. Internal friction and all. I cant hear my fan come on, old ears, and ear plugs. But I remember when the bike was young I had some indication the fan was on. If I reread all I wrote above, sounds like my fan is working. Wonder if that happenend about the time of the fuel tank replacement?

Thanks for the responses.  Temperatures in Houston fell about 15-20 overnight so looks like Fall is here.  Likely I won't see 5 bars again.

At least not on the bike  :002:
