Based on this thread, I  just bought  a good used 2015 driveshaft  for my 70k miles old 2013 SE.
I don't  think my final drive has ever been off. So, I  don't  think the driveshaft splines have ever been serviced.
I got the bike at about 58k miles, & did the 60k mile service on it, but didn't  think of luring the shaft splines. I should have, by now.
It was an "annual" thing that I'd  do on the Venture that I had previously, but didn't  hear any issues with it on the SE.
Now, as they're  getting  miles & aging, it's  turning up, perhaps,  as an issue..
So, I got the good used shaft as a future maintenance & repair item, assuring it's availability  to me for a paltry $100...
    Cheap insurance.

I have a spare EBay driveshaft too.  Like Larry said - good insurance.

The reason why I decided to lube the driveshaft splines was because on my Concours C-14 I had a "clicking" sound when the rear wheel was rotated with the bike on the center stand after I acquired it @ 15K miles.  There was still some lube on the splines, but after I cleaned and re-lubed the front splines,  the "clicking" sounds was gone.

Friendly suggestion :  Use moly paste ( not moly fortified grease ) to lube the splines.  I have been using this stuff on the rear drive splines on my old ST1100 and they still look new at 100K miles.  Honda moly paste works good too.
