    It is unlikely you ever had the cover fitted - It is shown in the parts drawings,
    but as far as I am aware, was only ever fitted as standard to the engine in the Explorer model.

    My motorcycle has a plastic cover that covers the entire starter motor. What's more, I have a replacement plastic cover the same as the one installed on the motorcycle.

    I'll take photos...

    Nope, I have never seen that cover on my starter. So I am not stressing that...

    When I stripped mine recently to do the maintenance there was oil all over the bottom of the sump, leaking from the gasket area, and I found some sump bolts not to be tight to the recommended torque.  Heat and cold were the culprits I suspect.  There was never enough leakage to show up as a loss of oil in the window on the engine though, so loss was very minor, just annoying to see it and have to clean up.
