    Dealer tool
    on: Apr 07, 2023, 12.26 pm
    Apr 07, 2023, 12.26 pm
I am wanting to purchase the dealer tool for my 2017 TTSE, but my laptop is a Mac… I have someone that has an old pc laptop, my question is, what windows program run best with dealer tool?? I’ve heard the newer windows make it glitchy.  My only use for this laptop would be for the dealer tool so I’d like to set it up best for it.
    Thanks for any input.

According to the information on the DealerTool web site "FAQ's" :

What type of computer do I need ... ?

A desktop PC or Laptop, running, Microsoft Windows 10 64 bit / (WIN 8 / 8.1 64 bit versions will also work)

1 spare USB port. (2 USB ports for the unrestricted version) The interface cable is approx 1.5m long so you may require a USB extension lead if you cannot get your PC next to your bike. (USB is not recommended to be extended by more than 5 meters, although it often works fine longer than this)

MAC? Customer feedback suggests that DealerTool will run on a MAC using “bootcamp” or “parallels” - but we have no knowledge on this and are unable to offer support on this.

*Note: Only the later interfaces (ver2.5, ver2.6, or ver3.0) support Win8 & Win10. Our newer V3 cables work with Win10 without the driver issues of earlier types.

(Please email us if you need to upgrade your old cable if you are moving to a new Win10 PC and you find your old cable no longer works.)

    Cheers  :821:

If you were so inclined, you can purchase and install Parallels on your mac and run Windows on it.  That's what I do and it works fine with DealerTool and TigerTool.  With either platform, you have to make sure that you are using the right drivers and make sure that you have turned your wifi off so that Windows doesn't try to auto update the driver.

See if you can find an old cheap Windows computer with an older operating system. And use it for nothing else other than your TTSE. Thats the way I do it. After you once have it working, keep the internet off, do not let anything update. After you once have it working on your bike, take no chances with updates.  IIRC, my TTSE dedicated computer uses Windows 7. All my other computers run Windows 11.

But IIRC, there are two versions of the Dealer Tool. For Windows 11 and a different one for older versions. I don't know about Windows 11--if the one for Win ten will work or not.  I am not sure if the newer version is backward compatible with older Windows. I own both versions of the DealerTool, but I now only use the older version. And that laptop is used for nothing else.

    Win 10:

I´m happy with it on my Win 10 Laptop, easy installation and use.
I purchased the dealertool in Jan this year, I use it on my 5 year old laptop running win10 64bit.
It was easy plug and play, dealertool is recognizing the connection, you confirm, then connect to read out ECU, and voila, you are prompted to contact Dealertool for registration of your bike (ECU).
Sent an email to the specified address, connected my Sprint ST, same procedure, sent another mail for the sprint, and got both codes within an hour or so.

There, I meant to say "But IIRC, there are two versions of the Dealer Tool. For Windows 10 . . . "

I've got several versions from about 6.0 and upto 6.57b and they all work with any version of Windows from XP onwards.

I also use my BBFLY-BF32301 OBD2 interface with every one of those versions without issue. The BBFLY lead uses the FTDI chipset so I have no problems with driver updates.
