clunk noise when stopping
« on: October 07, 2013, 11:24:14 AM »
All,
I'm new to the forum as I just picked up my trophy two days ago. Bike is amazing but I noticed a distinct soft "clunk" noise every time I stop. It's not the engine, the transmission, or brakes. I think it is coming from the drive shaft?
This is the first drive shaft bike I have owned so I wasn't sure if it was ok for a little noise from drive shaft.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Dan

I have seen comments that it may be the self locking pocket on the bike.  Some seem to report it as being noisy.

I get the same. I just ignore it. It doesn't sound dangerous. It is like the brakes pulsating when I come to a stop. Just a characteristic of the bike I guess.

You're quite right, it's the central locking on the "glove box" opening - it's locked whilst riding to discourage us from messing with it

Thanks for the info guys. Come to think of it, it is the same sound when I turn the key and the glove box unlocks.

I appreciate the help.

So I noticed the noise from the glove box too. However, after 300 miles it has a different "clunking" noise. It happened at the very moment the bike stop from braking, when the fork would move upwards after breaking. Wanting to get the first 500 mile service a bit early (at 300 miles). I noticed there was a bit of oil on the front wheel. I was called and the dealer told me they found that one of the fork seals has blown. Anyone else had this happen? :084:

Yes.... search for fork oil seals... there is quite a thread of stuff there!
