Where to start, I have ABS, Traction control and engine management lights on, ABS and TC warnings on dashboard, trip meter resetting, 999 miles till empty odeometer not changing etc, now no lights to rear inc brake and front pilot lights, checked fuses, also screen not going up,
    Check error numbers:
    P1633
    P1521
    P0500
    WTF any help gratefully received

Your problem sounds like it might be due to a broken wire in the main harness that goes to the handlebar ignition switch. Or the harness that goes through the chassis of the motorcycle and goes to the connectors that are under the fuel tank.

    P1633
    Table of contents:
    Fuel System/Engine Management

    Fault description:
    Windscreen system malfunction
Engine ECU has tried to drive the windscreen but not detected any change in movement (a Hall effect position sensor is integrated into the windscreen motor)

    Action:
Check the windscreen fuse (front fuse box, fuse 6), replace if blown
Check the windscreen mechanism for foreign objects or debris that could be causing an obstruction
Ensure the correct relays are installed on main harness (Note: There are two change-over relays required for the windscreen). Refer to the Electronic Parts Catalogue (EPC) for correct relay information
Ensure the windscreen motor module is securely plugged into main harness
    Disconnect the battery negative terminal:

    P1521
    Table of contents:
    Fuel System/Engine Management

    Fault description:
    Lost communication with ABS

    Action:
View and note 'freeze frame' data if available
Ensure ABS modulator connector is secure
    Proceed to pinpoint test 1:

    P0500
    Table of contents:
    Fuel System/Engine Management

    Fault description:
    Vehicle speed sensor malfunction

    Action:
Refer to C1613 (see page 75-58).

    P1633 = Windscreen system malfunction

P1521 = Lost communication with ABS

P0500 = Vehicle speed sensor malfunction ( Rear Wheel )

The ABS & Traction Control Warning lights would be expected with P1521 & P0500,
together with the MIL ( Manfunction Indicator Light / Engine Management Light ),
as would the ABS and TC Warning messages.

The screen not going up could well result in P1633.

The other faults mentioned, including loss of lights, leads me to ask :

Have you had the Ignition Switch Wiring Safety Recall Inspection completed ?

If you HAVE, then double check the wiring to make sure those connections haven't
deteriorated since - which has been known to occur even after the recommended "fix" had been applied !
( With the Ignition ON, turn the Handlebars fully from lock to lock a few times -
there should be no flickering of any lights on the instrument panel, or any clicking of relays heard !  )

If you have NOT had that completed - get it done NOW - apart from the possibility of it being
responsible for all of these faults, the Safety Inspection could potentially save you from
a very serious accident / injury or worse !

If the Ignition wiring is all confirmed to be good, then first of all I would switch the Ignition OFF,
wait for a couple of minutes, then disconnect the Main Battery.
Leave it for 5 minutes or so then reconnect the battery.
Some members have reported that doingthis has cleared some spurious electrical glitches.

I don't like co-incidences and it seems strange that all these different issues seem to have cropped up together,
so next I would consider whether any work has been done on your Trophy recently that might have disturbed
any of the electrical connections, as there appear to be at least 3 different problems :

    1.  Lack of power to the Lighting circuit ( Front & Rear Position Lights, Brake Light, Horn, Top Box Power socket )
    2.  Loss of Screen control
    3.  ABS / Rear wheel sensor fault

Double check that the Main Battery terminals are clean and tight,
and that there are no signs of corrosion inside the Main Fuse holder
( located right next to the Battery ).
Check the condition of your Battery and if possible have it tested.
Low Main Battery voltage can cause all sort of electrical problems.

This is the order in which I would check things, with the first giving me the most concern :

    1.  Check for power at the fusebox for the Lighting circuit.
If there is no power there, the most likely reason would be a fault with the Ignition wiring.

    2.  There is a known troublesome connection of multiple wires crimped together under the rear of the fuel tank
that can fail through corrosion.  See this Topic : Screen adjustment behaving weirdly
There is also a possibility of a wire / wires having been pulled out of a multi connector located under the left side
of the fuel tank - where the wires from the left handlebar switches are connected to the main harness - tight wiring
around the headstock has been known to result in this happening when the handlebars are turned.

    3.  Check the integrity of the ABS / Wheel speed sensor at the rear wheel,
and trace the wiring back to its connector to check that connection.

I hope this helps you to start diagnosing and finding the cause of these problems -
Let us know how you get on !  :169:

    Cheers  :821:
