ALL I WANT IS TO RESET A SERVICE INTERVAL

Per the heading, Dealertool is just not going to work for me.  No amount of communication with them has ever had it work more than once.  After entering the new registration key for my new to me '17 and restarting it per the message it hasn't worked again.  Their instructions for the solution by email inquiry are a little disjointed as they go through it an further down make a really important comment that should be carried out earlier in the process.  A little late to tell me that NOW I think.  I don't know what is going on with it and am ready to completely delete it now.  I bought it long ago and have always had the same problem every time it has been closed and reopened.  It's a one time shot for the purchase price, and I'll obviously have to buy it again every time I service my bike.  I'd let a dealer update it, but I don't think they would do it if they didn't do the service on it themselves, and I understand that point of view.  Maybe I'm forever relegated to pen and paper to keep all my maintenance records.  I think most everyone can still read anyway.

Is it a problem with Windows drivers for the Dealertool lead, or some other problem with recognising the reg key in their software?

If the lead is OK you could always use it with TigerTool.

My thoughts exactly but when I tried it with Tigertool it came up  the first time and then I got an error code 433 (I think) and I could no longer get Tigertool to connect at all.  I have a new OBD cable as well as a Bluetooth OBD reader for Android so I'm hoping one or the other of those will work.  I can't understand why apps come up and run seamlessly on cell phones and NOTHING wants to work on a computer unless the operator is a true computer GEEK.  Do software engineers not understand that not all their customers are programmers?  Maybe we need a whole new attitude in software engineering!

So after my last rant at Dealertool they have decided they will no longer do business or have any contact with me.  To their credit they did refund my latest key purchase for the '17.  It had never worked properly in the entire time I had it.  It might work once, then when it was disconnected it was back to unable to connect to the comm port even though it showed to be using the correct port.  Never found out why.  One aggravation no longer in my life.  I've got a new OBD cable of the type that work with Tigertool so I'll use that.

For those having issues and want to give it one more try, check out this link:

I suspect I first saw it somewhere here, but I'm too lazy to confirm.  :114:

Thanks to T800XC my maintenance interval is reset after ordering his recommended OBD cable and using Tigertool it took less than a minute!  Thanks to all for the help provided. :821:
