I have mostly had trouble over the years with rain pants, I think because of all the stretching and movement, getting on and off, it's hard on their seams and the seam tape lets go, etc.
Now I have a good First Gear jacket that's been water tight for 2 years so far.
For pants, I buy cheapo Coleman rain pants, cut out the mesh liner (loose and makes them difficult to get on quickly, takes 5 minutes to snip it out), and just get a new pair every spring...
I do have Aerostitch 3-finger rain gloves, they are great, but kind of warm, so more a 'cold rain' thing. I almost always wear waterproof boots, but carry Aerostitch 'Emergency Rain Covers' which work well. I used to use Tingley Rain Over-boots, the thin ones. They work well, but it's a good idea to spray the insides with silicone once in a while, or you'll look funny hopping in the rain on one foot fighting to get the boot on the other.....
Ditto the comment on Olympia gear, it's a bargain for the money. The mesh jacket liner is supposed to be waterproof, but anything over a light drizzle, I put on a the rain jacket, I don't want to find out the hard way the liner leaks!
