Zumo 660 Discontinued - What are other options?
« on: October 28, 2013, 06:45:51 PM »
So, just looked at the Garmin website, and it looks like the Zumo 660 is discontinued:

https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-the-road/discontinued/zumo-660/prod15000.html

Yes, you can still buy it, but I have misgivings on buying a product that is discontinued by the manufacturer.

Does anyone know if Triumph has come out with any other options for GPS units for the TT?

Actually Garmin has replaced that version of the Zumo 660/665 with the 660LM/665LM which include lifetime map updates, four times per year.

Aha! Good to know! I am still choking a bit at the price of the unit, and will be exploring options for my phone instead because... well... it can do the job.

Do you know if the voice on this unit will transmit through a Cardio Bluetooth headset?

Excellent  :152:

I've been saving a few bucks for a Zumo or something similar.  However, in other postings, it appears that I might better "hardwire" the Zumo output through the bike, and let the bike's Bluetooth send the turn directions instead of pairing the Zumo directly to the Scala.
Not absolutely positive.   There appears to be a raft of Bluetooth issues cropping up, with owners finding peculiar workarounds to gain success. (with headsets, GPS's, Ipods, etc)

The Triumph Trophy audio system is quite comprehensive,
and can be a bit complicated at first, so here's an idea if what it can do,
and how various peripheral devices as can be incorporated into the system :

The Trophy Bluetooth system has 2 channels.

This allows for simultaneous connection of a "Headset" and a "Device"

The Headset is your Bluetooth helmet receiver such as Scala, Interphone etc.

The Device can be your Mobile Phone, Sat Nav, iPod etc.

Not all bike headsets seem to be compatible with the Trophy
so that's the first thing to try and establish before purchase.

Once the helmet headset is successfully "Paired" to the Trophy
and the Trophy menu is set to "Headset 1" as it's output,
you will be able to select and hear the AM / FM / XM radio,
Music from an attached USB device in the Glove box,
the audio from the Sat Nav that has been plugged into the dedicated Jack plug,
any device connected by Bluetooth that is capable of streaming audio via the A2DP protocol,
and accept incoming Phone calls from your "Paired" Mobile Phone.

You CAN connect the Sat Nav by Bluetooth to the Trophy system,
as "Device 1" but would then lose the Music Streaming
and Mobile Phone Bluetooth capability.

Most bike helmets are also 2 channel,
to allow for intercom with a pillion or another bike rider,
but you would need to check the specifications of your particular device
to see what connections it would support.

My own setup is with an Interphone F3XT paired to the Trophy as Headset 1,
the Garmin Zumo 660 is hard wired to the Trophy,
My iPhone is paired to the Trophy as Device 1,
then I have a separate iPod in the Glove box connected by USB,
and my pillion helmet also has an Interphone F3XT for rider to passenger intercom,
but the second channel of the pillion F3XT is paired to the pillions iPhone,
so they can accept their own phone calls and isten to their own music.

Simple !   :087:

It appears that the only replacement in Australia for the discontinued 660 is the 390LM. Does anyone know of this one, I have looked at it and it does seem to be good but not sure if it will link with the trophey or not?
