Free Engine Upgrade? (Locked - Duplicate Topic !)
« on: November 13, 2013, 08:50:23 PM »
Hi Guys
Received an e mail this evening from Triumph, asking if I would like a free engine upgrade. The upgrade is to rectify " top end ticking"
apparently the TT will be collected, taken to the factory, rectified and returned in 10 days. The loan of a Triumph Explorer is also offered!!

Anyone else been contacted regarding this issue?

Had the same e-mail last night! Got my T T going in mid January 2014 .
It seems silly not to take up the offer.
I had my T T delivered January last so it might only be the early models that are effected.
I'm not tapping yet but  if I don't have the up grade I bet it would start !
Good service if this is sorted out by Triumph with out asking. :028: Will report when bike has been returned to me .....

I've had that ticking since Dec 2012. Approaching 17000 on the clock now and no noticeable problems but hey, I'll take it.
Have asked for the upgrade in Jan. It's a rebuild of the head apparently so may help with the 20k service.  :001:

I'm not even asking for the trip to the UK.  I'll settle for the  free upgrade and a reolve of the ticking problem. How about taking care of the US customers, Triumph?

This morning I sent a copy of the UK engine upgrade email to Triumph Australia ("TA") for their feedback in respect to this matter from an Aussie customer perspective.  I got a response back almost straight away.

The good news for the Aussie guys and gals is that the engine ticking problem was taken care of before the bikes were sold in Australian, noting that the Australian release was 12 months after the bike was released in the UK

TA is aware of the problem as it arose in relation to the first release of the Explorers - these were released in Australia well before the TTSE.  The problem exists/exited in these earlier engines, not the later engines.  TA has been doing the engine upgrade under warranty for all these early released Explorers.

TA did ackknowledge, apparently just to be completely open with me, that there was one of the very early TTSE which developed a noisy engine and that it was fixed under warranty. No instances since, but as the ticking noise is a known problem, TA said they would look after it's customers in the event that the problem did arise.

I'm going to the motorcycle expo tomorrow, was riding the TTSE in to the city, but looks like it's going to rain, so taking the light rail option seems the way to go as it virtually brings me to the front door.

Always ride in control.
