Top Case

If what my dealer is telling me is on the up n up , the top case will come as a unit in black , the silver or blue is a clam shell that goes over the lid of the top case ...
I do hope this is correct...

Correct. The case, lid and rack are separate items.

Ok , so I know it's a three piece unit , but is the color top shell an add on over and above , brass tacks can it be mounted and used without colour shell ?

Sorry, I see what you mean (two countries separated by a common language, etc...)
I don't know. I suspect not, they'll have thought of that same as Givi and the others.
Probably a mass of reinforcement ribs and hinges so you wouldn't dream of fitting it without the shell....
