VIN Decoder
« on: December 01, 2013, 06:27:51 pm »
If this has already been answered previously in another thread I apologize in advance…I couldn't find it….

I'm fairly new to the forum; bought my '14 TTSE about a month ago…I was curious about which factory my TT was manufactured in and couldn't find the answer on this site. If anyone's curious I think this link will help:

http://www.angelfire.com/ca/TORONTO/VIN/VDS.html

I'm not sure if this "decoder" will only apply to models sold in the US. This indicates that the tenth digit signifies model year ("E" represents 2014 model year). I've read somewhere that this may be different on European VIN's.

For what it's worth….

Chillin' (literally) in Ohio….

I purchased my 2013 TTSE less than a month ago and has the expected "D" as the 10th digit. BTW, is there ANY  difference between  a late 2013 and early 2014 TTSE other than the vin number? Seems price, colors and everything else is the same, the only difference is in the VIN number. Is this true?

On the plant code, I noticed it says "The specific codes for each assembly plant are set by the individual manufacturers." I think that means Triumph has to be asked. Mine was built in the "J" plant. How about yours?

I did some internet searching and "J"   is    "Great Brittan."   See here.

Agreed.

Also, I don't think there's any difference between your 2013 and my '14 other than the VIN designation.

I have not noticed any outward difference between my Australia 2014 and the earlier 2013.  I think that the extended rear mudguard may be the only noticeable difference.  Hopefully upgraded Throttle part and software. The dealer put the latest tune in it last week.  Any way to check the number of it?

Don't know if there's a way to check...Mine's at the dealer now for the 500 mile check. Is there an ECU update that's out since I purchased mine a month ago that I should be getting??

As part of the service the ECU should be checked and the latest tune and upgrades installed.
