TASMANIA MUST SEAS
« on: December 12, 2013, 09:41:54 am »
Hi Guys,
Well what a challenge this topic will be. Tasmania (Tassie) is one of the most varied areas in Aus and its small size makes it a wonderful to tour. if you want to fly around in a few days you will see some 'nice' big scenery but its only when you take the road less travelled do you really the beauty of the magical isle.
My first Travel Tip for Tassie.
Check out the weather forecast while you are here and go west if it will be dry and go east if it's going to be raining Hope this link of Tassie work. If so I will had 'stuff'

Thanks John I love looking at a map of Tassie.
Someone had to say it! :008:

Problem is with accommodation so tight you have to book ahead so can't change touring direction at the last minute.
Lots of places are booked out 6 to 8 months in advance for Feb/March & April.

Ah yes tourists have to book ahead, but if you were caravan parking/tenting... may be not? I'll still put up the local Fab bike back roads onto the map....but was also looking at getting the data from Google maps into my GPS and I think it can be done...here is a youtube vid:

Thanks John,  Now the memories are coming back.  Love the West coast of Tas (where I learnt to ride) and riding up to Burnie and loving Hellyer George part.  Love to know how the Trophy goes through the gorge.
No such thing as bad weather - just inappropriate clothing.

Hi all,
The downside of living in Tassie  at Christmas is that my kids live on the mainland. So my maiden trip was on the ferry and off to Adelaide in SOuth Australia. Now here and enjoyed the trip...so far. Took the slow route via the coast...about 800kms .....had all extremes of weather from 30plus to 14 deg C, rain all one day...but.....what an amazing machine
More later.......and can't Wait to be back in Tassie to ride the roads in heaven
Have a safe and happyChristmas All
