Multiple electrical issues, hopefully all the battery
« on: January 27, 2013, 11:53:52 PM »
Now if I have the radio on and turn on my heated gear, I lose the fuel gauge.  Restart the engine, everything works, turn on heated gear, lose fuel gauge, as well as everything that was in memory.  It acts just like the battery was disconnected.  Terrible news with tomorrow being a vacation day and supposed to be sunny, as I'm afraid the battery is deteriorating so quickly it's not safe to take out of town. :233:

I hope so.  Either way, I popped the GoPro onto the helmet and duplicated the problem twice just now, with video to prove the problem exists.

I have done over 250 miles on two trips on a demo bike and during this time whacked everything electrical on. That included heated seats, grips and radio and did not have any problems with any of the gauges or computer. It sounds like a fault the dealership should be dealing with.

Agreed. Unfortunately, dealerships are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Thats a real bummer! I would hassle the Dealership for compensation of some sort too.

Well maybe we had all go buy a battery load tester and before each ride check it ...! Hey maybe Triumph can send us all one ...!  :745:

I only have the standard bike, have only the hot grips fitted and they are switched off most of the time.
The digital speedo disappeared the other week when it was minus 8 or something overnight.
I put it down to the cold requiring more juice to fire it up causing some current drain - it's fine now.
No issues starting it in the cold though. (I appreciate it's not cold by Canadian/US standards).

There was a similar well documented issue with the Pan European.
Digital stuff would re-set for no apparent reason, though the battery was seemingly OK and it started no problem.
I had always put that down to cold weather - don't think it ever happened to me in the summer.

Come on Triumph - talk to us?
