Current Trophy Issues
« on: December 30, 2013, 07:26:34 PM »
OK after a disastrous year on a brand new 15k motorcycle (not a Triumph BTW)  I'm on the verge of giving up with it, after 7500 miles and six months they replaced my bike with another new one, which I've done 2500 miles on and I'm getting yet more issues....

So after one test ride and another booked for Thursday, I'm thinking of buying a TT SE new, it seems from this and other sites that most if not all the teething troubles are now nailed by Trumpet, I really can't face being a development rider again so my question to the panel is.

Can I really expect a new Trophy to be trouble free?

I was always told there are only 3 certainties in life....

Death, taxes and nurses!

I would say most of the teething issues have been identified and Triumph are resolving them....

My input...

I got tired of dealing with my previous bike as well; lots of issues. What sold me on the TT was;

1. Handling,
2. The overall quality of the build compared to the other bikes I was looking at (RT, Concours, FJR)
3. It's a Triumph...
4. The 1215 triple
5. Ergos and comfort ammenities

I paid a little extra for an extended (4 additional years) warranty when I bought mine. It's a great ride and I haven't second guessed my decision to buy at all. Granted, mine is still quite new (purchased in mid November), but I'm glad I went with the Trophy.

Good luck with whatever you decide...Lots of great bikes out there.

The forum posts will give you a good idea of what problems people are having, the number of people with problems is low, and the number of specific problems is very small. Now you have to make that risk assessment. My last bike was totally trouble free, and I still traded it in for this one.

There are no absolute guarantees in life, but what I can say is that my October 2013 build 2014 Australian model has been running just fine. One minor issue with a hose clamp that needed tightening at the first service.  If this is the same for all later build bikes, it is less likely that any of those owners will get on a forum unless they just want to look at accessories and servicing advice.
