Reset cruise control without dealer trip
« on: January 26, 2014, 07:56:58 pm »
Like Sergio and others that posted in the Cruise Control Failure topic some time ago, my cruise control stopped working after a trip to the dealer that replaced the windscreen motor and gear position sensor under warranty.  I figured that the only solution was a trip to the dealer to re-activate the cruise control.  I did some Googling however and I found a solution that worked for me over on the Triumph Tiger Explorer site.  The post is by James_uk9:  http://www.tiger-explorer.com/index.php?topic=6082.0

Resetting Cruise Control
The conditions are Ignition key on (engine not running) and cruise control switched off:
Activate front brake switch
Rear brake switch
Clutch switch
Twist grip switch (push the throttle in the closed position)
Activate cruise on/off switch
Cruise accelerate switch
Cruise decelerate switch

James says that the switches can be activated one at a time in sequence.  You don't have to hold the switches closed all at the same time although it worked when I did it that way.  It's worth trying before going to the dealer.  Some of the replies in the thread said that the reset will not fix the cc if the dealer did not activate the cc properly after an ECU upgrade or wipe.

Thank you James across the pond!  You saved me and hopefully other TT owners a trip to the dealer.
