Well I know some of you have asked how I am getting on with the Honda so I thought I would put a few lines together and keep my opinions unbiased.
Given this lousy, wet weather I could (would) not take the CB1300 to work (half fairing or no half fairing). Today was forecast as being dry however. So this morning I got my kit on and did the 50 mile commute to work.
Liner in jacket – check
Buff up over mouth - check
Heated grips on max – check
And off I went……..
The first thing is obviously the cold and buffeting. Even with the heated grips on, the tips of my fingers felt the cold. At 90mph I had hit the fastest I could go in the wind. On the Trophy it could be a lot faster should I have wished too.
I missed the mirrors on the Trophy. I have found that the Honda mirrors only allowed me to view each side of the bike and that the Trophy mirrors, whilst appearing restrictive, actually allowed more rear vision.
On the plus side:
I did not have any back ache (yippee!).
I could filter a lot easier through traffic due to the Honda being narrower.
And finally, it was fun to ride!
Riding the trophy was the height of comfort. It was a bit like driving an open topped sports car. Comfortable with that open air feeling.
Riding the Honda is being truly at one with the elements and taking all they throw at you.
So that was my first commute. The trips may not necessarily be shorter but will be limited to relatively good weather.
I will miss certain aspects of the Trophy, but am happy with what I have now.
