Odd question - larger grips?
« on: February 11, 2014, 05:59:08 am »
I've had my TTSE now for 2 months. Other than a required recall of the ECM, it's been great to be on, especially given the rainy weather of the past weekend. Unfortunately it seems that I may have caused a trigger finger to occur on the throttle hand. A hand surgeon suggested I look for perhaps larger grips. I have the heated ones now. Has anyone else have this issue, and/or have any ideas of making the grip bigger?

Hi emsabh,

I have the "Grip Puppies" on my Trophy ...

They are a slip-on foam like material, that increases the grip size slightly, providing extra grip and comfortable cushioning.

I find there is less vibration transmitted to my hands and don't suffer from the "tingling" sensation I used to get without them.

As you can see they from the Photo they fit quite well !
( have to be cut down in lenth slightly using a pair of scisssors ),
and the Heated Grips still transmit plenty of heat through them when needed !

Like Coconut, I too have Grip Puppies on my Trophy. Much more comfortable than the original grips.
Heat takes a bit longer to build up, but it gets there in the end!
I also find they give better throttle control than the original grips.
All in all - I wouldn't be without them!

Not odd at all, I personally find the newer grips a bit small diameter as well, I prefer the grips on my Thruxton which are the classic slightly bulbous style which I find more comfortable.

Thanks for the recommendation about Grip Puppies, seen them advertised but thought they were designed for MX bikes. Might well give them a try as they are not outrageously priced.

Due to my large hands, I too installed Grip Puppies on my Trophy as well as my previous Concours-14. They really do make a noticeable difference in comfort. Over the past year I've ridden my Trophy nearly 42K miles and haven't noticed any tingling after all-day rides.

I purchased my Grip Puppies from California Sport Touring for $9.80.

Thanks for the input everyone! My trigger middle finger thanks you. It would show its appreciation but I fear it might be misinterpreted.  :172:

Never heard of Grip Puppies.  May have to look I to them.  I gather e heat from the heated grips doesn't make them brittle?
