Lamps
« on: February 10, 2013, 07:09:34 PM »
Bit alarmed to find that I can't get any spare indicator lamps.
Since they are amber and the lenses are clear and they look like offset pins so not in every service station.

No price and no order code at a main dealer!
Hope this bike is going to be the long term investment i was hoping for....

Still rides great though.  :152:

Ummm. might get some spares from the Dealership when I pick mine up Saturday. That is if they have any in stock.

The same bulbs are used on the Tiger 800 and 1200 ( I have both). They are not the usual 21W but 10W and use 150-210 degree offset pins. And as mentioned very hard to get.
There is a simple trick for fitting the more commonly available amber 10W 180-180 degrees pin bulbs.
Just grind off one of the pins and they will fit! I tried this on both my T800 and Explorer.

Ah, interesting, - dealer said they weren't common to any other Triumph...
Don't they drop out with one pin ground off?

This is what I have seen in www.worldoftriumph.com
Tell your dealer that different partnumbers are used for the T800 (PFKL1213515) and Explorer (PFKL2152055), but that the bulbs are exactly the same. For the Trophy no partnumber is available.
I just took the bulbs from the indicators from both my T800 and Explorer to double check and they are the same. See pictures below.
If you grind off one pin of the more common bulbs, they will still fit tight.

Great advice and thanks for the pics too. That'll be my back-stop.

For the record, they are not the lamps I have in the front or rear indicators on my Trophy (maybe UK spec??)
The globes are much smaller than mine.
However, the wattage is right and the cap is good by the look of it.
