Tools?
« on: March 03, 2014, 12:47:42 am »
Having only owned Japanese and German bikes I am not sure if the Triumph use Metric or Standard nuts and bolts.
Since I owned a lot of Metric tools it would suck if I had to buy Standard ones for this bike as I do all maintenance work and repairs myself (outside warranty).
Can someone tell me if Metric or if Standard?  TIA  :002:

The bike is very much a Metric bike.  You will need a good set of hex driver bits, and I highly recommend you add these as well: http://store.snapon.com/Hex-T-Handle-mm-Set-Wrench-Metric-T-Shape-Hex-Blue-Handle-152-4-mm-length-8-pcs-2-to-10-mm--P641947.aspx

Beyond these, I haven't found anything unusual, but being under warranty, I haven't had to wrench on it much.  One gotcha was that the mirrors fold in towards the center of the bike, and there are bolts hidden behind them for disassembling the dash / front plastics.

Thanks for the answer on Metric VS. Standard and for the tip on hex bits.
I do own an extensive collection of tools as I am rebuilding a 1986 Carrera and quality tools are a requirement! :016:
