12v pocket outlet...
« on: March 25, 2014, 03:46:27 pm »
Anyone else having issue with the 12v outlet in the upper pocket not working? The USB port next to the outlet works but not the 12v outlet.

Thanks...John

Hi Johnny, I've a feeling that that one only works when the ignition is on. Definitely not permanently live.

Dave.
Trust me......
I ride a Triumph.

The 12 volt outlet down by the engine is the only one to stay on with the ignition off. That's a good place to use a battery maintainer.

All the other outlets require the ignition to be on.

The outlet in the storage pocket and the pillion power outlet both require ignition on and engine running.  The outlet in the top box only requires the ignition to be on.

That's how mine is configured.

Yes, the cigarette outlets and the rear powerlet one are only on when the engine is running. Seems that they are powered the same as the headlight, no power unless the bike is actually started.  Must protect against power spikes during starting.  I

Very simple to lift the small comparment out (bolt towards the rear, and two locator lugs forward underneath the item). Mine came back from the ECM replacement with the USB loose. Take the compartment out, check the plugs. It's bound to be something very simple Johnny.

..... Not forgetting the second bolt that has to be removed
from inside the compartment too !   :028:

Hopefully it's just the connector at the back of the accessory socket,
comprising two spade terminals in a moulded plug, ( underneath the
rubber cover ) that has worked loose, and can simply be pushed back on again  :169:

Yes we had this isssue...  the usb will work no problem but the headlight must be on for the cig plug to work . hooked my gps to it works great.. but off when light off... not sure if it stays on when bike not running... But when running it works good. Phil
