Radio antennas for the trophy
« on: April 13, 2014, 05:25:03 pm »
Just out of interest as I know there are some electrical wizards out there.

If I was to replace the Trophy Radio antenna does anyone have information on which one to replace with. The reason to replace would be either broken or to get a more rigid antenna as the one provided is distracting on the move flapping about.

I am not a techy wizard but I do know it is to do with Antenna specific length. I have looked at the short stubby ones which obviously stop any movement but are they going to pick up the same reception.

Any thoughts comments appreciated.

Yes, in most cases. The antenna length is not critical for receiving signals. It is only critical for transmitting, which is not an issue on a stock TTSE.

The SWR for aerials is a big deal for UHF radios, as get it wrong and the best UHF radio in the world will sound rubbish.  AM/FM is far more forgiving.
