a wee bit of oil
« on: April 21, 2014, 06:01:53 pm »
..... was on the pavement directly under the engine when I went home for lunch. Does this sound familiar to anyone. By chance I'm taking it in for the ECU recall tomorrow. Any advice?
My mother asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said "a biker". She said I'd have to choose one or the other.

Are you sure it was fresh and wasn't there from a previous vehicle?

If not then just get the shop to look it over as it is there anyway

This was in my driveway where there had been no car. I'm sure that oil came from the bike but I didn't lay in the driveway so as to see where it came from .
I'll check this evening.

Have a look and see it is not coming from the engine breather hose situated just behind the gear lever on thr underside of the bike. Happened to me after a six hour ride, has never happened since. Only expelled a small amount of oil.

i've moved the bike (miles at a time) and the next four locations there has been no sign of a leak. I'll check the breather hose.

After a few thousand miles mine developed a very small leak in the cover plate on  the right side of the engine.  Right by your foot.  Dealer said the bolts were slightly loose.  Replaced gasket just to be sure.  No problems since.

I had the same issue as patches. I didn't replace the gasket, just re-torqued the bolts back down to spec per the Service Manual and the problem has not returned.
