Oops, passenger door opened while filtering!!!!
« on: May 09, 2014, 07:37:47 pm »
Today on my glorious ride home through the North Circular, filtering at relative speed, some muppet decided to open the passenger door of a van and managed to knock my offside indicator off!  Didn't break anything else but knocked the lens out so will that part of the fairing replaced.:172: :172: :172: :172: at least I wasn't hurt but my pride and joy is! Wondering if I should go through insurance or not knowing that filtering is a touchy subject with insurance companies? I'm not sure if the indicator fairing part is separate to the rest of the fairing? If so will just get it replaced. Have fully comp anyway but wondering if its worth the bother going through insurance due to excess!

Hi gfxmonkey,

Sorry to hear of this - like you day, at least you are OK.

If it's just the clear plastic lens that's broken and none of the surrounding painted panels,
then it is easily replaced - fold the mirror out -
Disconnect the wiring socket from the bulb holder by pressing the silver spring clip inwards, then unscrew the large headed single screw with a 5mm hex tool
and the indicator unit will then slide out towards the outside of the bike and disengage  :028:

A new Front RH Indicator Unit will cost £34.50

hi Coconut, I think the whole panel will need replacing as the edge bits have been smashed off. Also, the panel grommet that attaches to the headlight has shifted, so I'm thinking that upper panel need replacing. Hmmmm!

I'm away from home right now,
So don't have access to all the info
But check out "World of Triumph" for  exploded views
and prices of the various panels  :169:

Hi monkey... Sorry to hear about your mishap... But you are OK and hardware can be fixed( usually)

The Trophy fairing is quite modular fortunately so possible you only need the mirror housing number 13 or 14 here
Triumph Trophy! Not for every Tomaz, Dieter or Herman!🇬🇧

Thanks Cropbiker, I think I'll need the fairing and indicator unit. Then decide how easy it is to replace myself!

Sorry to hear about your problem.

Dead easy job Monkey. Removed the fairings myself to replace the grill trim from when I dropped mine.

Look in the "How To" section. There is a how to remove fairings by Coconut.

Dave.
Trust me......
I ride a Triumph.
