I have been looking for a pair of summer/hot weather gloves for a while.  I wanted gloves with protection and cooling, with an emphasis on protection (crashing sucks).  After a few rides I can recommend the Alpinestars SMX-2 Air Carbon gloves.  They breathe well, and look like they would survive one crash.  And much more comfortable in the summer heat, than my full Sidi race gloves.

UPDATE:  I have owned these slightly over a year and they literally fell apart.  I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Triumph also make a carbon fiber glove, which I can heartily recommend.  After 4-5 years of hard riding in all kinds of weather, soaking rain, etc, they still look and function like new.  Plus they have the Triumph logo, a must have for a die hard Triumph fan like me!
