Survey of Owners with Cylinder Head Service Completed

For those Trophy owners who have had the Cylinder Head Service Kit work completed as a result of excessive top end engine noise, could you please report at what mileage you had the work done and where your bike falls in the VIN range?

My bike is going in for the upgrade next week with just over 500 miles and my VIN is 573505. I noticed an increase in head noise after just 350 miles. Especially in the RPM range of 2500 to 3200 RPM during the first 10-15 minutes of operation.

    Thank you,

    Mark

VIN 587223   Head done at 8022 miles.    Noisy right out of the crate.  Put foam in helmet over my ears so noisy.
Much much improved after fix, though still a bit diesel-y...    Love this bike, warts and all...

VIN: 574998 with 8,700 miles. Cylinder head service, along with ECM and center stand recall. Leaking fuel tank was replaced before there was a recall for the fuel tank. Windscreen does not operate correctly, never did, and is worse since the ECM update. I love the bike.

VIN: 570297 at 41,454 miles. Completed on 3/21/2014 after nearly four weeks.
Following services performed during same shop visit:
    1) Performed cylinder head service
    2) Replaced ECM
    3) Installed center-stand bracket
    4) Replaced 6 exhaust valves due to pitting
    5) Replaced broken shift lever
    6) Replaced deteriorating radiator cap seal & foam pads

Before Triumph would approve the cylinder head service, the 40K service with valve adjustment had to be done. Since engine clatter was then still very objectionable, Triumph approved the service. The engine is significantly quieter following service and the bike seems to run better than new.

VIN 5721XX Head work completed at 10,000 miles.  Bike was noisy from the beginning.  I assumed the clatter was a character trait of the Trophy as every Trophy I ever heard sounded similar (admittedly only 2 others).  Bike is now quieter but still louder than I'd like.

I haven't updated my head because I'm trading the bike on a new 2014 Trophy.  My original complaint was cam chain noise but by the end of the year I was considering a new helmet to reduce the noise level.  Winter is finally releasing it's grip slightly in the mid-west so we've started riding again.  The engine noise now seems objectionable even with the new helmet.  I wouldn't have bought the bike at the current noise level.  My bike has 2500 miles on it.

Won't you take kind of beating in trading a bike so quickly?  Or is the dealer going to "take care of you" given the problems experienced with the 2013?

I have a very experienced, mature dealer.  He is great to work with.  He knows that the 2013 Trophy SE suffered development issues and felt somewhat responsible for the problems the owners have had.  At the same time I don't hold him responsible in any way.  He has no control over the product that Triumph sells, he just tries to take care of his customer as much as possible.
