Purchasing a proper Triumph Service manual
« on: May 20, 2014, 08:21:36 pm »
My new bike is a 12 reg and the warranty runs out in 3 months. After that I will do all my own servicing. So I need a full blown service manual but it seems they don't exist for public consumption. Triumph say you can get them from the Dealer. Anyone in the UK purchased one and if so how much. Will I need anything else to service the bike?. Pretty savvy with spanners and have rebuilt several bikes from the ground up. Currently run an 93 BMWR1100. 96 Diversion S and a 79 hybrid R45/750. Had plenty of japanese bikes ZZR1400 Fireblades etc so not scared to delve deep.

I got mine from the dealer because I get very special pricing from him (he is my brother).  Others who didn't want to pay dealer prices have used this.  You should read through the thread to see if anything in there causes you to hesitate ordering.

The Service Manual costs around £80 in the UK - available from yor Triumph Dealer,
Part Number T3852790 is for Issue 1, 09.2012.

There are a couple of minor errors in it that have been passed on to Triumph,
so these should be corrected in the next edition, but I don't yet know hen this will be.

Errors spotted to date can be found listed here :
Owners Handbook, Audio Handbook, Service Handbook and Service Manual errata

Even with the Service Manual you won't be able to "do" everything.

The Triumph Dealers have diagnostic software that is only released to Dealers,
although you can buy a device called "DealerTool" that will help with some of the checks
and servicing procedures, but any software updates, and probably more of the in depth "complicated" stuff,
will still need to be done by the Dealer.

Thanks chaps. Being held to ransom by a dealer does not appeal to me but I suppose it is that or take the bike back :110:

Maybe my link was buried in my original post but again I don't think you need to be tied to the dealer if you don't wish
