Triumph Dynamic Luggage System (Kick Start Topic)
« on: July 26, 2012, 04:53:33 PM »
Another one of the more interesting features on the Triumph Trophy and Triumph Trophy SE is the Triumph Dynamic Luggage System.

Apparently this maintains the bike’s weight distribution by "decoupling the pannier mass from the chassis", and allowing the storage areas to move in a 5° arc compared to the motorcycle.

Its an interesting concept, designed to counteract the oscillations generated at motorway speeds that have up to now caused many a bike to weave. On large tourers this was normally neglated by designing a stable steering geometry into the bike so that any weave was barely noticeable. Triumph have moved this on a gone one step further with a linkage between the panniers that allows them to move. It's only in a 5° arc but it allows the ossilations to effectively cancel each other out. It also allows the designer some scope with the steering geometry which doesn't have to so conservative.

I had some "moments" in my time with overloaded bikes and weaving. Most of the time the bike had a rediculous amount of luggage on the back so no wonder it went wobbly but it'll be interesting to see if something like this actually works.

So when we go for a test ride do we have to take a ton of stuff with us to stick on the back to test it  :745:
