I guess it is fixed
« on: June 07, 2014, 04:18:50 am »
Before the ECU recall my bike had the dreaded engine shut down, not once but twice!  Putting around Houston hadn't convinced me the bike was truly fixed or once again reliable.  I had a few days so I decided to give the bike a bit of a work out.  So I ran out to Taos, NM down to Santa Fe over to Oklahoma and back to Houston. Other than in Taos it was consistently 88 - 100 degrees.  Elevation changes running from 1000 feet to 11000 feet above sea level.  Cruising speeds running 65-90 depending. Total miles 2350 over 5 days.  Nothing terribly drastic but  I figured this ought to test the bike.  Glad to report bike functioned flawlessly.  Bike is also much quieter after the head work

That was a good run. Spent some time in Taos and Santa fe  Skiing. Enjoyed very much.

That put the bike thru its paces OK

I have done 6000kms since the ECU change 4 weeks ago. Everything performs as it should. Cruise control seems less sensitive, throttle response is better - but it could be working better with the staintune exhaust.

I previously had at least 4 engine shutdowns  plus power loss at lower revs.  Bike now has 19,000kms on it, quite a few more to come up soon..

Like saaz I should have also noted that the cruise control functions much better.  It is a pleasure to use now

I only have 1,000 miles since the ECU/head work, but the bike runs great and as I reported in a another thread, everything on the bike functions as it should.
