Failing to lock topbox
« on: June 23, 2014, 11:44:27 am »
My trophy topbox 1215 SE OE triumph closes but the lock is weak and with very little effort be opened, key position is definitely at locked position, I am second owner, bike shortly due for annual service hoping that it will be sorted then at no extra cost to me as bike still in warranty. Has any one else experienced this lack of security. Just to note the panniers are fine and behave well!

I have not had a problem. Please note that apparently, due to a poor design in my opinion. If they have to change the lock it means a new topbox as it is glued into the topbox and can only be removed destructively

No I haven't had any problems with my top box.  I've been very pleased with both the strength and reliability of the locks. Mind you I've never had the locks tested.   I always take the panniers and top box off the bike when I stay in a hotel.  I figure would be thieves won't know if they are empty and I've never seen any reason to tempt would be thieves.

I think the owners manual suggests your lock it when riding.

No, no problems here. I ride with the box closed but not locked often (wife's gloves, scarf, lippy, mirror - you know how it is). Lock it when away from the bike.

Should be a warranty fix.
