Which is the purpose of these little sockets?
« on: March 18, 2013, 06:48:53 PM »
Hello friends. My Trophy SE Launch has two "little" sockets on its left side. One on the top side of the engine and the other one on the left under the rear seat.  :027: :027:

They are a little bit narrower than the two 12 v. standard sockets located in the top box and in the left drawer.

Can anybody give me a hint of the use that I can give to these little sockets?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers.  :821: :821:

They are auxiliary power outlets. Known as Hella or DIN standard.

Ok. Thanks.

I suppose that in Mommy Triumph can provide with the appripriate xonnector, because they do not have the standard size....

Do you actually use them for anything? Can we charge the battery or start the engine if the battery is dead from any of these sockets?

Thanks again

Yes, just the same as a cigarette lighter socket. The Hella socket can be used for Optimate, sat nav, phone charger etc.

The plug is a much tighter fit too which is better!

You should be able to get them anywhere - but try a BMW dealer first - they are a standard fitment.

At least one is "live" all the time.
Some are "live" when the ignition is on.
Some are "live" when the engine is running.

The one close to your left foot as you are sitting on the bike, is "live" all the time.

This is the one to charge the battery from.

3pot is correct. Try a BMW dealer first for the narrow plug. If no luck then try Ebay.

With respect, try your BMW dealer second! I got some in a local camping shop for 1/3 the cost.
