Purchasing fees
« on: July 13, 2014, 12:35:23 am »
For those of you in the US, were you charged a delivery fee and a dealer prep fee in addition to full MSRP when you bought your Trophy?

I have been offered what looks like an OK deal except for these fees.

Here is a break-down for when I bought my TTSE:

The out-the-door price (with every option possible) was $22,000.05. Base price of the bike was $19,002.32. $329.00 in document fees, $495.00 Freight, $600.00 in dealer Prep, $1,537.73 in NV state tax.

The $22,000.05 price includes a $500.00 military discount. So it would have been $22,500.05 if I never served in the military.

I purchased my TTSE here in Reno in November of 2013.

Many dealers can be talked out of the prep.  I've never seen a dealer waive the freight.

My bike was $17000 plus $250 prep and $495 for freight then TT&L. I bought all the accessories after the sales and they installed all the stuff and gave a 15% discount. New Triumph/Harley Davidson dealer so I guess he was trying to make a good sale for advertising. Odd combination Harley and Triumph in the same dealership.

Thanks guys. This dealer wants 795 for freight and 593.50 for prep. I already said no to the prep.

I paid full msrp, and I don't remember the fees being onerous. The reason I made the deal when I did was that the dealer gave me at about $3000 more for my trade-in that it was worth.
My mother asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said "a biker". She said I'd have to choose one or the other.

My 2014 was $18,994 which included the top box. Added was $250 for document fees, $1,105.19 for sales tax, $35 for filing fees. This all brought the total to $20,384.19 out the door. They gave me $4000 for my ten year old RT with 100,000 miles on it. I had to cough up $16,384.19. I thought this was a good deal and since I bought it mid winter when sales were down I probably would not get that deal when business is brisk. I also get 20% off any accessories I buy at the dealership for one year after my Trophy purchase. I took advantage of that and got the tank bag and a heated jacket for my wife.  :190:
