'Click' when coming to a stop
« on: August 22, 2014, 03:56:39 pm »
Since my SE came back from Hinckley and then got serviced I have heard a click or a tap when I'm pulling to a stop. Can't figure out where it's coming from but I don't believe it's from the brakes. It sounds like it's from the front of the bike at the bottom somewhere. I'm going to take it in for a check especially given the work done at Hinckley!!

Anyone got similar or any ideas?

The noise is the unlock solenoid for the storage box on the left side of the fairing.

Yep... it is perfectly normal derek.... nothing to worry about but perfectly understandable in the heightened state of awareness we all had after the return from the factory!  :008:

Don't think it's the lock/ unlock solenoid as it's never worked from the day I got the bike. Also sounds like it's from far lower on the bike too.

Just to be clear it happens all the time when I'm stopping whether at the end of a ride, traffic lights etc. I'm hoping cropbiker is right and that I've only just become aware of something that has been always there lol

I have the same noise too. At first I thought something was loose in the head bearing but it was checked out and found to be OK. Our noise seems to be intermittent. I kept looking but can't find anything wrong. And it could very well be the lock for the glove box but without having it do it all the time, I can't be sure. I now don't worry about it, but it can be annoying.

Page 78 of the Owners Handbook :

The stowage box will lock when the
motorcycle is in motion to prevent opening
and will unlock (but not open) automatically
when the motorcycle comes to a stop.

It is easy to remove the solenoid I think it is in the how to section. I removed mine because every time I went for something in the glove box the bloody thing was locked and I had to find the key and turn on the ignition :233: It has the added bonus of stopping the annoying clonk every time you stop

I removed mine also. Took all of ten minutes.
