Wheel paint
« on: September 02, 2014, 09:10:17 am »
Ok so I've done a search of the previous discussions on this but can't seem to find an answer ......................... Has anyone managed to find a touch up paint for the wheels yet?

I have a couple of chips in mine and so asked my (useless!) dealer for a kit, only to be told "they don't do one".

I wrote direct to Triumph to ask for the colour code etc, only to receive a reply saying "unfortunately the wheels are manufactured by a third party and so we are unable to provide you with this information"!!!!

Unbe-####ing-lievable!!!  .............. Surely Triumph gave out the specification for the colour that they wanted so must know, so why not pass that on to a customer who has paid a LOT of money for their product.

I have also spoken to a specialist paint supplier who said if I chip of a piece of paint about an inch square and send it to them, they may be able to match it!!!!!

So, a problem that should be a small one and so easily solved is proving to be a bit of a pain  ............ anyone resolved this yet?

I am sure a paint shop has a bit of fancy kit (camera) that they put up against the wheel and it tels them how to mix the colour.  I have done it for a car body work but it was along time ago.

unbelievable is an understatement.  :156: not to mention whether refusal to provide might (but I'm not certain) violate competition laws much the same way car manufacturers are required to provide their paint codes.

Try to find a local auto paint shop that uses optical sensor to do color matching,

If its one thing I'm not happy with on the bike it's the wheels. I find that they always look grubby so I'm looking to get them powder coded gloss black........a winter job me thinks.

Hi there edge.... I would agree with you.... I really find it difficult to get them clean. I would be interested to see your results in powder coating and how much it costs you.
