Another Newbie joins the ranks
« on: September 16, 2014, 02:02:24 am »
Pardon me if this didn't get into the New Members section. I'm new to forums.

So, drinks on me - and something extra if for those who teach me new things about this bike (SE). I haven't ridden for 30 years, but friends have pushed me back in. Wow, have the bikes changed. Almost no kick starters anywhere, and all the bells and whistles on my SRT! This is a sweet bike.

My friends and I are planning a tour of the US, and we're collecting all the equipment we need for that. I'm hoping to get ideas from this forum to get ahead on that effort! Riding gear, tires, other add-on equipment. I still want a tank box, but not right away. otherwise, it's all icing - unless there is something that will convince the wife this is safe for her to climb on the back.

Can't have too many Trophy friends!

Here is how you ride as many days as you want on the bike without over packing. Take three of everything; one to wear, one that will get/be dirty, one to wear while you wash. Lay out everything you think you will need on the floor. If you can't think of exactly when you would wear or use something take it out of the pile and don't take it with you. I have been on the road for 11 days with only 2 bags that fit in my panniers; one for clothes and one for repairs/rain/cold. Many others have been on the road for a year with about the same amount. Credit cards can cover most anything you will really need.

Have fun, man!   :152:

Hi KaliforniaKook, and  :400:  to the Club !

There is a wealth of experience amongst our Firum members,
and LOADS of information within these pages to read up on  :169:

There's a very useful "SEARCH" button that will help you find just about anything you need,
but if you still have questions, just post them into the appropriate section of the Forum.

To get you started, have a look at the "TOP TIPS for New Forum Members" message  :028:

Cheers  :821:
