Grand Army of the Republic Highway
« on: October 02, 2014, 12:18:39 pm »
I'm thinking of a whirlwind tour of US 6 across northern Pennsylvania. Does any one have any suggestions? Things to see? Places to stay?

Thanks
My mother asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said "a biker". She said I'd have to choose one or the other.

I ride that road fairly often, but living close by I don't have any suggestions as to where to stay.   Other than being a nice ride the only thing I can think of to see is the PA Grand Canyon which is a nice view.   So I guess I am not much help but do wish you a great ride.

I started around Wellsboro and went to Erie, PA, which you have to get off 6 a little before getting there.

Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, Wellsboro

Wellsboro Diner, if you get hungry in that area.

Kinzua Bridge, Mt. Jewett

Drake Well, Titusville, a little ways off 6, but if you like the history of oil in this country it is worth a visit.

PennDot Road Sign art in Meadville.  I have not gotten those pictures done yet !

Very nice road.
Should be pretty with the leaves changing soon too.
Have a great trip.

I'm not sure that I'll get as far west as Titusville but the other three on on my agenda.
