GPS & Radar Detector Mounted
« on: October 08, 2014, 05:25:27 pm »
Using the OEM GPS/XM antenna mount from Triumph, I fashioned a bracket to mount both the GPS and Radar detector centered above the dashboard. There is just enough room in the mount 'tunnel' to run the GPS power and audio wires, RD power wire, & XM antenna wire to maintain a 'clean' installation look. I powered the RD by tapping into the GPS power coming from my FZ-1 fuse block that is controlled by the OEM GPS power lead. The RD is perched on it's platform secured by 3M Dual-loc fasteners allowing me to pop it off easily. Cost of steel plate and screws was ~$15. Next step is to purchase a BT transmitter for the RD audio out to channel the alerts to the SE's audio.

Very nice and clean.  Just make sure that you put the RD in your saddlebag when traveling through the nanny state of Virginia.  Police will stop and confiscate as "evidence" on sight.

Nice install Ray  :047:

What do you hang off the extra RAM Mount on the right handlebar mounting,
and what's that switch on top of the Clutch fluid Reservoir ?

Thanks guys.
The RD is a Beltronics Pro500 - clone of the Escort 9500ci.

The Ram ball was the original mount for GPS before I added the TT OEM GPS mount but is now used for cellphone on X-mount when needed.

The remote on the clutch reservoir is for the Go-Pro Hero1 mounted on the left R&G bar.

The button switch on the inner left handlebar is the DRL dimmer for night riding.

what do you think of the beltronics?  I've got a Valentine 1 and really like it but not sure how it will stand up to the rigors of outside use.
