10000 mile service
« on: October 21, 2014, 10:54:41 pm »
Well gentlemen I had my big, blue, overweight  girl to the doctor for her checkup (9877 miles) and she got a clean bill of health with one little exception.   Apparently there is a low/bad battery in the rear wheel sensor and guess what that causes.   Yep, it causes that little message on the screen that says my rear tire is low.   So the dealer noted it and when I am ready for tires (still on the pirelli's) they will change it.   Yeh she is a little plump but those curvy lines make her look sexy and she is ready for anything that I throw at her.   For her size she is fairly nimble and doesn't drink a lot.   She is comfortable and fast (I like fast) and when she growls at me I love it.   Best of all she likes to be ridden for hours.   :114:

So my guess is when you see that same message, whether you have 39 or 99 psi, it is because of a low/bad battery in the wheel.

P.S. Pirelli's will probably go another 3000 miles.   Back is slightly better shape than the front.

In total 13,000 mi, that is 20,921 km. is this correct?
My TTSE was brand new, this summer when I gone on holyday to Norway.
After just 7,000 km (= 4350 mi) the back Pirelli was so – what is the correct word in English- un even worn, bumpy, that it influenced my steering.
You know the vibrating issues between 60-90 kmph 40-55 mph.
So not worn to the canvas, but enough to be replaced.

Yes thatsabout right, 21,000 * 0.6 =12,600 miles

I changed my front tyre due to uneven wear too (9,000 miles), it was a Dunlop Roadsmart 2, there was still legal tread on it but the profile had ridges.

Later

The front is cupped (worn uneven) a little but doesn't seem to affect anything drastically.   The back is worn fairly even but has a slight flat spot across the center somewhere between 2 and 3 inches wide.  I asked the dealer what he thought and he said; "they look good, I would run them".   I am sure he would like to sell me some new tires and he will, but not yet.   When I do I think I will go with the PR4s.
