Anyone fitted Heated grips themselves?
« on: November 06, 2014, 07:18:21 pm »
Anyone done this themselves and have instructions.  I was quoted about 80 quid from my Triumph retailer to fit the kit which itself is around 140.

Yes, easy peasey. Just follow the instructions and you should be done in less than an hour. Don't forget to replace the blanking plug with the supplied jumper. You will need to remove all the switch gear and the pods, reach the lower switch screws you also need to loosen the levers, I don't think that is documented.

Everything will work as designed, the only exception being you won't get an on screen indication, that's requires the dealer to update the ECU but you can ask them to do that during your next service when they have their tool plugged in, lucky if that takes 2 minutes.

Are you sure about that? I think you will be missing the heating elements.

Strange indeed !

In the UK, at World of Triumph the complete kit is £154.99, and it comprises :

PFKL2069825    GRIP, HANDLEBAR, RH, HEATED        £ 38.64

PFKL2069826    GRIP, HANDLEBAR, LH, HEATED         £ 25.96

PFKL1188210    CON PACK H/GRIP                            £  0.90

PFKL2152067    SCREW,S/TAP,PAN/HD,M4X10,SLV     £  2.87

PFKL1215637    CABLE TIE                                        £  0.54

If you add up the individual parts the total comes to    £68.91 !

That DOES included the heating elements - which are part of the replacement grips,
but doesn't seem to include the Shorting Link that is referred to in the instructions and needed on some models  :087:

I'm wondering if the price for the complete kit ( £154.99 ) was the original price including fitting,
which would make more sense !

Yes its all there...The dealer even checked it.  The grips come with all wiring already attached.

To be fair they were confused too! But they got a kit in stock and compared all the bits....I just have to wait for the bits to come in.

I'll report back when I get them
