XM Sat Radio on 2015 TTSE?
« on: November 10, 2014, 02:35:20 am »
After having crashed my 2014 TTSE in June and as I am finally almost healed I have started thinking about a replacement for the bike. Of course, I am looking at the 2015 TTSE (Black  :062:).

When I look at the specs for the 2015 North American bike I do not see any reference to XM Radio being equipped as it was on my 2014. Has it been removed from the new machine? I realize that I could use an external radio but I already have enough auxiliary stuff hanging off of the bike (radar detector, GPS x 2, GO Pro) and want it built in.

Hi nakerr,

Good to hear that you are on the mend  :028:

Strange that they make no reference to the XM Radio, but then if you read the spiel about the 2014 model,
they don't mention an "FM" radio either, they just mention the "Audio System" !

I would be VERY surprised if XM radio was not included,
especially as Triumph have just released a Software updare for it !

The only thing I could find that did indicate that XM would still be fitted,
is that if you go to the "Configure" part of the Triumph US Web Site,
it lets you specify the Triumph Sat Nav bracket, which has the additional mounting plate,
( additional to the UK non-XM version ), for repositioning the XM Antenna onto it  :169:

Let us have the definitive answer when you know  :028:

Cheers  :821:

Glad you are about to get back in the saddle.

Black does look cool.

In the specs it just says listen  to "the bikes radio ..."  implying it has one.  Of course we do not have XM over here.

It's a Satellite Radio service in the US and Canada.

Not much use to you in York, or anywhere in the UK  :110:

The TTSE satellite (XM) radio is especially nice out here in the NV desert. It is not possible to ride out of range--nice strong signal on every channel  anywhere and that is many channels. XM radio can be set to play only the type of music you like--such as ONLY from the 1960's (or 1970's or 1980's) or ONLY Elvis Presley or ONLY  the Grateful Dead, etc,  Or only rock-classic--or the bridge channel--only softer rock. Very configurable. The only downside is that one must subscribe to it, which costs money--but not much. I use mine all the time.

XM radio has no advertisements, but sometimes there is still talk, and sometimes too much talk on some channels at some times, but it's easy to switch channels to another. There's always something to listen to that anybody would like after the XM radio is set up correctly, on just a press or two of a button.

The satellite locations favor the USA and Canada--so I don't think it's available in the UK or  many other countries.

I too really enjoy listening to XM satellite radio (Smooth Jazz ch. 66 "Watercolors") while touring around the US and Canada. I also subscribe to both XM Weather and XM Traffic. The weather radar display is especially useful since it shows how my route might intersect any storms and allows me to make a more informed decision whether to press on or stop to put on my rain gear. The traffic has alerted me to significant delays and offered to route me around the congested areas. Since the satellite signal is consistently available, except when blocked by hills, trees or buildings, I find it much better than relying on cellphone service, which can be quite spotty in the western US.
