Best drink holder and how to mount?
« on: November 10, 2014, 10:09:18 pm »
I'm searching for a quality drink holder and mount that will hold an average size sports bottle.  I prefer using a straw during longer rides so I can drink with my helmet on.

Any recommendations in the drink holder and where to mount it in the SE's cockpit?

Hi Capt, have you considered one of these -

I don't recommend fizzy drinks though - I know from experience it shoots straight into your mouth and straight out your nose! :821:

It was hilarious and yes it did happen, we were riding through the French Riviera in high summer and the back packs allow 2lts of fluid through a pipe clipped to your collar, then you bite a small valve in the mouthpiece to draw water or fruit juice etc.

Well, stupid me put 2lts of fizzy Orange Fanta in the pack and the addition of summer heat [45 deg+] increased the pressure without me realising it ~ until I bit the pipe valve.
Luckily I had an open face lid but everything still got very sticky - very quickly :008:

I have the Triumph hydration pack (camel back pack).  It works real well for long distance, and holds enough without adding a lot of weight.  It also helps cool your back on hot days if you put cold water in it.

On long rides I normally just buy a drink when I stop for fuel ?? Call me old fashioned  :001:

I use RAM Mount stuff wherever possible; the cupholder kit I bought for my Trophy is # RAM-B-132-349.  I don't use it while on the road, just when I'm near home (or work), and I'm stopping to bring some fast food to take with me.  The kit works flawlessly for me - just make sure you adjust it so it doesn't smack anything while turning the handlebars!  Here's a link to the kit at the place I buy from (expressmounts.com) - great service there; I buy stuff for my Jeep there, too!
