Winter run with pictures
« on: December 21, 2014, 04:56:09 am »
Went for a 250 mile run today as during winter you must take what is given.

This is the Mississippi river at Louisiana, Missouri Northwest of St. Louis. Nice day for a ride if you have a Gerbing's, 41degrees F. With the touring
windshield, heated grips and seat it was nirvana. The top two pictures are looking North and that is a car bridge you see. The bottom two are looking South
with a train bridge in the distance. The snow was from several days ago but the roads were clear and dry. I love my Trophy!

Great pictures mate and I can't imagine riding in such cold conditions brrrrrrrrrr!!!! Winter here in Queensland gets cold of a night (cold dry and frosty), but no snow, thank goodness.

I have been on quite a few rides in the Snowy Mountains with snow all about, even in early November.  Too much earlier than that and you risk proper snow on the road. Heavy hail covering the road is bad enough...

Been hoping for a winter ride, just enough ice and snow on the roads to prevent that and my alley is like a glacier; budget cutbacks mean far less plowing and road salting than in years past...   Even my KLR is afraid of the alley glacier... As you say, 40 with heated gear is perfectly doable... Neal Peart, drummer for Rush and avid motorcyclist is the source of my favorite quote:  "No such thing as bad weather; just wrong clothes"...
