another speedo problem
« on: January 18, 2015, 01:48:51 am »
So, I've read all the post about the speedometer dropping to zero and kicking off the cruise, but I don't know that I've seen a positive cure (other than one person having an ignition switch replaced). What have you other guys had done to fix the erratic speedo?

Mine has not done it since the last service so I can only assume it was fixed with an ECU update. This was 6 months ago.
My bike came out of the factory with the new ECU but still had this fault so it was not fixed with the ECU replacement.

Only occurred on my bike once and that was only for a couple of seconds.  Happened so long ago I haven't worried about it in ages.

Yeah, it only last for two or three seconds when it does it, but when I'm using the cruise, it causes a sudden unexpected lurch forward.
That could cause a major problem on some of these twisty Tennessee back roads. Has almost made me pinch a hole in the seat a couple of times.
I'm just checking for other folks cures so I can give my dealer a heads up. By the way, bought my 2014 in September and it has done it several times.

You ride the twisties with the cruise engaged?

Mild twisties, not the Deal's Gap sort of thing. Lots of long sweepers around here.

Mine has done it a few times, far less after ECU replaced. It happened twice with a few minutes about 6,000kms ago disengaging the cruise, just after a service do don't know whether plugging in the diagnostic tool has something to do with it and it cures itself. Can't recall it happening in normal riding but I may have missed it as it does not affect the bike going. Not really an issue for me as it has happened so infrequently in 57,000kms.
