OEM Tires gone at 4140 miles
« on: January 21, 2015, 05:33:27 am »
I rode again today in 50 F warm winter air and was looking at the tires after the ride and saw cord in various spots in the middle
of the rear, 4140 miles. I ordered a set of Conti Road Attack II GT's when I walked in the house and hope they will provide a few
more miles than the Angel's did. I'm glad I don't run with the panniers or a top box! I do run it hard and Missouri roads do provide
for excellent grip. I'll let you all know what mileage I achieve on the Conti's and yes I check air pressure every time I ride.

I had a similar "cord" experience with Angels on my Triumph ST.   Checked the tires before I went out for a ride, everything was fine, cord was showing by the end of the ride.  4200 miles isn't many miles.  I don't recall much discussion about a Continentals so I'll be interested in hearing your report.

I am at 5100 miles on my OEM tires and they look like they are maybe 1/2 worn. What air pressure do you run? (I am at 38F/42R)

I run 36/42 on my tires.  Only the Pirelli tires have had a wear issue. With the Michelin they still look very good with 5000 miles on them.

Which Michelins?  I'm thinking I'll put on PR4 GT's when I need new ones.

I'm still running the PR3 but I've read good things about the PR4.  There are some threads on the subject in this subforum.  The search tool should make them easy to find.

Did 4500 miles in the pirellis and they started to get a little 'slippy' in wet conditions, I ride a route with lots of dead leaves.

Swapped to pr4s (have had prs3 b4 too) the difference is like night n day.

please excuse typing am in hospital and have only 1 useable hand.  no riding for 2 months
