New Triumph Owner
« on: January 30, 2015, 01:19:12 am »
Hello & g'day,
This is my first post on the forum. The 'old' in oldbrit means I'm a senior citizen - my computer skills are slow and somewhat superseded. Thankfully, as I'd much rather be riding than sitting in front of a PC, my riding skills are much better.
My current ride is a new Triumph Trophy 1200 that has just had its first service.
I'm interested in doing my own servicing from here on and hope to glean/share maintenance tips with you all but having difficulty sourcing a service manual/DVD - any guidance would be gratefully appreciated.
Cheers.

:400: to the forum.  I'm sure that several here may be able to help, just not me.  I tend not to do my own service on anything anymore due to the waste disposal issue.  When I worked at a job that had a waste disposal service pick up used oil and paint/solvent waste I would take it there, but since I retired I no longer have that luxury - or a truck I don't mind hauling it with in case of a tip over and spill.

In the "How to" section there used to be a posting with pictures about changing oil. I don't see it there now.  It is rather simple and you do not need to remove the faring to remove the oil filter.
As for disposal of the old oil, in the states we can take used oil to stores that sell oil and they will take it.
Good luck.

Hi oldbrit, and  :400:  to the Club !

You can't get the Service Manual on DVD ( legally ), but the Triumph offcial Service Manual
can be purchased from your authorised Triumph Dealer.

There's lots of information within the Forums about Servicing
that be accessed by using the "Search" button,
and here's a topic you may find useful as it contains a Triumph Trophy Sevice Data Sheet :
"How many do their own Servicing ?"( Click on the preceeding text to go to the Topic ).

Don't worry about lack of computer skills in here - it's all fairly intuitive,
but if there's anything you're struggling with just ask  :028:

Cheers  :821:

Welcome to the group!
My mother asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said "a biker". She said I'd have to choose one or the other.
