Tappet noise
« on: February 03, 2015, 02:42:36 pm »
Just read a review on the bike and one thing they didn't like was a high rpm tapping sound almost like the motor needed a valve adjustment. Has anyone had this problem with there bike? That would be vary annoying

How old was the Trophy that was reviewed ?

Earlier machines had an "Engine Upgrade" which involved
replacement of Valve Train components, which might explain it !

Coconut it was posted in 2012 and I believe that was the first year the trophy was offered by Triumph so hopefully I won't have that problem with my new one. Thanks

Yes the upgrade was done available well after 2012.  There was quite a thread on it in this forum.  There was a TSB #154 on it

You don't need to  worry - owners of affected machines
were informed of the Upgrade and later machines had the modification.

The original discussion ran to 74 pages here :

Yeah that's why I figured I'd do Trophy Tom a favor and re-post the TSB.  Save him the trouble of reading 74 pages.
